alivmo is built around a simple, fundamental truth: the people around us can help us be healthier.

Leaning on the people close to you - family, friends, neighbors, the people who already care about you - to stay healthy, isn’t a new idea. It’s just one we tend to execute poorly, especially here in the US, where community is thin, it’s rarely clear what actually needs to be done, sharing a health condition feels awkward, and coordinating everyone’s help is more work than it should be.

We’re trying to fix that.

Good healthcare products get built through early, frequent contact with the people they’re meant to help. We’re starting small, with a handful of people willing to build alivmo alongside us. Here’s who we’re hoping to find.

Who we’re hoping to find

People ready to shape a better way of getting support.

At this point, alivmo is likely most useful for conditions where we already know what helps and the real challenge is doing it consistently. Heart failure is a good example: medication adherence, a careful diet, daily weigh-ins, exercise, cardiac rehab - each one makes a real difference, and yet actually keeping up with all of them, day after day, is genuinely hard. If that tension is familiar to you, we’d like to talk.

Someone with a few people in their corner.

alivmo works by bringing the people around you into the loop, so it helps to have at least a handful - family, friends, or acquaintances- who would be glad to lend a hand. They don’t need to live nearby or know anything about medicine; they just need to care about you and be open to trying new approaches.

Someone with patience for something early.

You’d be joining this at the very beginning and we’re building the plane while flying it. Parts will be rough, and some of what we try may not prove useful at first (or ever). We’ll always be respectful of your time and work around what’s convenient for you. But being an early adopter means being comfortable with things that are unfinished, and telling us plainly when they aren’t working.

This is largely unmapped territory. The best version of alivmo will come by learning from people who are open to trying approaches that don’t look like the usual path and who find that kind of exploration a little exciting.

A first run, built around real life.

Here’s roughly how it works. We start with an intake - a conversation to understand your condition (or that of your loved one) and to map out the network of loved ones and acquaintances around you who might help. From there we’ll reach out to several of those people ourselves, to learn more about them and how they’d like to be/could be involved.

The bigger idea sits on our side: with your approval, we help bring the people already close to you into the loop, share information, collectively determine what activities will actually be helpful, and work through how this coordination could work with your network. Along the way there are short check-ins, usually 5 to 10 minutes, to see how things are going, and throughout we’re listening closely and adjusting as we learn. A first run together is usually about a month - enough to tell whether it’s making a difference, without asking you to commit to something open-ended.
